3 Tips to Make the Most of Your Workout

Finding enough time to put in a substantial workout at the gym can be challenging, especially if you have a busy work and personal life. With commute, warmup and cooldown, and actual exercise, a session at the gym where you really work your body can take upwards of two hours. That’s a lot for many people to dedicate to just one activity.

If time is an issue for you, your best solution is to maximize your time at the gym through preparation and smart time management during your workout. We’ve compiled a few tips to help make those short gym sessions impactful.

Prepare a Workout

If you are going to the gym on a regular schedule, the chances are that you are familiar with which exercises you do while at the gym. Because you have this information on hand, you should spend some time writing out different workouts to follow that include these exercises.

By writing down your workout routines, you’ll have a few different options to choose from when you go to the gym. You’ll also be able to follow a set routine that targets the muscle group(s) you want rather than expend energy on exercises that don’t complement each other.

Most importantly, by writing down your routines and bringing one to the gym to follow, you’ll be able to eliminate a lot of downtime spent at the gym. When you have a plan to follow, you won’t waste time thinking of which exercises to do next or how many sets and reps to do. You’ll also be able to better monitor your time and speed up or slow down if necessary.

We recommend having at least two routines for each muscle group that you typically work out. That way, you’ll be able to differentiate the exercises you do and have a more complete workout regime. If you need some exercises to add to your routines, there are plenty of online resources available to refer to.

Take a Nitric Oxide (NO) Supplement Before Your Workout

When you are short on time to get in a full workout, it helps make sure that you are pushing your body to hit your target number of repetitions in each set. That is easier said than done.

Fortunately, there are ways you can pump your body up before your workout so that you can get explosive reps in each set. The most effective way is to take a Nitric Oxide supplementbefore your workout.

Nitric Oxide is a vasodilator, which, in layman’s terms, means it helps our blood vessels relax and pump more blood. Enhancing your blood flow before a workout is a great way to maximize your time at the gym for two reasons.

The first is that the blood vessels in your muscles will be more relaxed and allow more blood into them. This means that your muscles will grow in size and be stronger than they normally would be. With more strength, you will be able to lift heavier weight and exceed your previous maximums.

The second is that blood will flow out of your muscles just as easily as it does flow in. This helps increase your muscle stamina and gives you the power to add more reps to each set. Plus, your muscles will be able to recover more quickly after your workout.

Taking a Nitric Oxide supplement enhances the output of your muscles, thereby increasing the value of each set in your routine.

Include a Superset in Each Routine

Supersets are a type of exercise set that sequences two or more different exercises in a row without a break. An example of a superset would be doing a few pull-ups and immediately transitioning into hanging leg raises.

A good practice is to change up which muscles you are using among the different elements in your superset. That way, you are able to finish the superset without getting muscle fatigue too early.

By including at least one superset in your routine, you will save time on your workout because you are eliminating time between working on different muscle groups. Plus, because your body is working out multiple muscle groups in a short period of time, you will also benefit from a cardio workout as well.

These are just a few tips to help you save time at the gym if you are on a tight schedule. Even if you are not in a time constraint, these are great tips to implement into any workout routine. Time is valuable for all of us, after all.
